OneDrive for business not supported

The link to cloud storage feature supports integration with Dropbox, GoogleDrive, and personal MS OneDrive accounts. OneDrive for Business is not supported.

Course links and menu links to Discussion Board tool launch in web view

Course links to specific forums are supported. Currently, course links and course menu links to the discussion board tool—where you see list of all forums in the course—are not natively supported. Users can access an equivalent forum listing page in the app. After accessing a course in the app, users can swipe right or tap the left arrow at the top of the screen to view Discussions.

Bb Student not compatible with Session Fingerprint

Bb Student is not compatible with Session Fingerprint settings to create a new session when fingerprint changes. Several types of content that are not supported in the native UI are loaded in an in-app browser (webView), which uses a different user agent than the native app view. The traffic for webView requests does not go through the mBaaS relay like native requests, so the remote IP address and user agent changes. Therefore, the user agent and IP address must change in any webView workflow, and attempting to create a new session upon a change to the session fingerprint causes a session failure in the webView in-app browser.

Bb Student usage not recorded in Mobile Building Block Analytics

Mobile Building Block Analytics only include Mobile Learn usage.

Students see parent course name for merged courses

For merged courses, students see the parent course name instead of the child course name.

UPDATE: This issue was resolved in Bb Student with Mobile B2 94.9.1. This issue will be fixed for Mobile Learn with Mobile B2 94.9.3.

Web login does not save credentials

When an institution configures a web login page for Bb Student, the app does not provide an option to store credentials for a seamless log in when the app launches.

UPDATE: To provide a seamless login experience for FTW schools, the Mobile B2 (94.9.1+) now offers extended mobile session timeout to maintain user sessions long term.

Content does not update while in a course or on a page

While navigating within a course or staying on a static page, such as Stream or Due Dates, content does not update in real time. In order to see content updates, you must navigate out of the course and back or navigate off the page and return. The exception for this is content with adaptive release rules for tests, assignments, and discussions, which will invalidate the cache upon submission and refresh the content.

Calculated Grade Center columns do not display

The following Grade Center columns are considered calculated columns:

  • Average Column
  • Minimum/Maximum Column
  • Total Column
  • Weighted Column

These columns are not displayed within the Grades section of Bb Student. If a calculated column is set as the external grade, then it is displayed as the overall grade for the course.

Firewall whitelisting to allow mobile traffic

There are two services needed for Bb Student functionality—MLCS and mBaaS. MLCS is the Mobile B2 registration service that handles the school search and is also needed for the older Mobile Learn app. mBaaS is the service relay in Amazon Web Services that handles the request traffic for the newer Bb Student app.

Profile avatars

At this time, the Bb Student app supports changing the profile avatar in some, but not all, scenarios.
