Firefox 49 and Higher Support

Audio and Video Issues

If you are having issues with your audio or video, please check the following:

  • Check that the browser has permission to access your camera and microphone.
    • From the browser’s audio and video preferences menu, select the camera and microphone you would like to use from the respective drop-down lists and select Always Share from the Share Selected Devices drop-down list.

  • Check that the audio or video controls are enabled. A line through the icons means that a device is not enabled.
  • If you use Firefox 41 and higher, click the video icon in the URL bar to Stop Sharing. You will need to refresh the page for the change to take effect. When you click to turn your microphone on you will be prompted to select new devices.

Audio Set Up With JAWS

If you are having issues with setting up your audio and video with JAWS, use your ChromeTM browser to set it up.

Application Sharing Issues

If you see the message that application sharing is starting, but the screen does not actually start sharing, stop and restart application sharing.

If you continue to have issues, uninstall and reinstall the Desktop Sharing extension in Firefox.

If you are continually asked to install the extension again after you already have it installed, you will also need to uninstall and reinstall it.

  1. From Firefox, click Open Menu in the toolbar.
  2. Click Add-ons.
  3. Click Extensions.
  4. Find Desktop Sharing and click Remove.
  5. Return to the Collaborate session and start to share an application again.
  6. Go through the wizard to reinstall the Desktop Sharing extension.
