Where do I find Blackboard Collaborate?

Instructors can use Blackboard Collaborate in their courses. It's up to them how it is used. It could be one-on-one sessions, class lectures, or a place for you to host group study sessions. You can find Blackboard Collaborate in your course Tools.

Your institution decides the Blackboard Collaborate with the Ultra experience you use in your course.

Blackboard Collaborate Ultra: There is a dedicated course room. Instructors also have the ability to schedule more than one unique sessions for different uses.

When you join a room or session it opens in a new window or browser, depending on your browser settings.


What is the course room?

Doesn't seem familiar? Jump to the "Ultra" help about the course room.

The course room is an open Collaborate session dedicated to the course. You can join this session any time.

The course room might share the name of your course and have a Join Room link. Or it might be called Course Room.

If you don't see a course room, your instructor or administrator has turned it off.


View session recordings

Recorded sessions are saved as MP4s. Recordings include audio, any content shared or active speaker video, and the captions entered during the live session.

You can view recordings in courses you are enrolled in. You may be able to download recordings. Instructors must allow session recording downloads for each session.

  • In the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra tool, select the tool menu. Select Recordings for a list of all recordings.

  • In the Blackboard Collaborate tool, recordings are listed below the course room.

Can I host a session?

If your instructor has given you moderator access to the room, coordinate with your class to host sessions of your own.

ULTRA: Access Blackboard Collaborate from your course

Details & Actions > Join session

Instructors can add links to the room from the course content areas. You can also find the room under the course Details & Actions.

Select Join session from the Details & Actions menu on the Course Content page. If there is more than one course room, you can select the one you want to join from the menu. Select the arrow to expand the list of available course rooms.

You can't see Collaborate recordings at this time.
