Monitor File and Automated Message Configuration

Set triggers to notify you of possible issues.

District administrators can configure notifications to help manage late files and automated message triggers with the Monitor Configuration page. When you don't receive an expected file by a certain time, or if the number of automated messages sent isn't as expected, you can send yourself a notification to investigate any issues.

Set the message triggers

  1. From the Blackboard Communications HQ interface menu, select Settings > Global Settings.
  2. Select Monitor Configuration.

Check out the Monitor Configuration video.

On the Monitor Configuration page, you can add triggers for when you receive files late, and when automatic messages are sent out late. You can also setup blackout dates to not monitor certain dates, such as holiday breaks.

  3. Add when to be notified about late files.
    • Select Add.

    • Select File as the Type.
    • Type the Time for the notification to be sent if the file has not been received. (Time is in military, 24-hour format.)

For example, if you normally receive the student user accounts by 4:00 AM, you can set a notification to contact you by 5:00 AM if the file has not been received.

    • Select the Days the file should be received.
    • Set the File path for the location of the file — include the name of the file.
    • Type the Notify emails those individuals to be contacted if files are not received by the time.
    • Select Save when finished.
  4. Add when to be notified for late automated messages.
    • Select Add.

    • Select the Type of automated message to track.
    • Type the Time for the notification to be sent if the automated messages have not been sent out. (Time is in military, 24-hour format.)
    • Select the Days the automated messages are sent by the system.
    • Type the Message threshold of the minimum number of messages that must be generated before a notification is sent.

For example, if grade summaries are sent every Friday by 6:00 PM, you can set a notification to contact you by 7:00 PM if the minimum of 100 grade summaries have not yet been sent.

    • Type the Notify emails of those individuals to be contacted if the minimum automated messages have not ben sent out by the time.
    • Select Save when finished.
  5. Type any Blackout dates to ignore specific dates and not send out any notifications for that time.

Separate dates by typing commas (,) between dates. To skip multiple days for school breaks, include a hyphen (-) for the timeframe.

  6. Select Save when finished.
