Edline Mobile View

When a user accesses your school website through their mobile phones, Edline will display an easy-to-use mobile view which presents information in a read-only format. The mobile display appears when the user accesses the website — without needing to install an additional app. From here, teachers, students, and parents will be able to login to access the My Classes feature, the My Private Reports feature (if your school uses an Edline gradebook), My Combined Calendar, your Groups, the Activity Feeds feature, plus the school's Staff Directory. Users will also experience easy access to the district's website, which will also use the mobile view.

You can also save your school link to your phone's homepage, allowing you to launch the school site directly from your apps page.

What’s Supported and What Isn’t

Edline currently supports the use of mobile phones using Android OS® and iPhone OS®, with limited viewing capabilities on other mobile platforms. iPads® and Tablets will display the full website.

Because some phones have different support when displaying specific type of content, such as handling PDF files and Word documents, some phones will work flawlessly and others will not display the content at all. At this time, all forms and streaming videos will not be available in the mobile view, and slideshow presentations will display as a folder of pictures.

How to Save Your School Site to Your Home Page

You can now save your school's website to the homepage of your mobile phone, so that the next time you want to access your school website, you can just launch it from your apps page.

All pictures in this documentation were captured on an Apple iPhone 4S® using IOS 6.

  1. Launch your browser application and type in the school's URL in the web address field.
2. From your browser's sharing options, select Add to Home Screen.
  3. In the Add to Home screen, type a name for the school icon.
  4. Click Add to create the icon with the school name.

The next time you want to access the website, you can select the school icon.

How to Use the Mobile View of Your School Website

Since all content is available in a read-only format, this section briefly steps you through accessing the different sections of your school’s website via the mobile application.

Whenever you want to access the full version of your school’s website and not the mobile view, click the Full Site link available at the bottom of every page.

The News and the calendar Events will be available on the top page in the first two tabs. If your school did not create their own navigation (menu), the standard school Contents information displays in the third tab. If your school did create their own navigation, then that navigation will appear on the third tab, and will be called Quick Links.

How to Access Your Personal Information

Teachers, other school staff, students, and parents can view their personal class pages, private reports, the combined calendar, group pages, and the activity feed.

In the upper right corner tap the menu icon () and select one of the following options for your personal information:

  • My Classes — Select from a list of your classes.

Parents that have several children using Edline will need to choose which student to view.

  • Private Reports — Select one of your reports to view.

Parents that have several children using Edline will need to choose which student to view.

Because of the various IOS versions and smart phones available, there is a possibility that the reports may appear different on different phones. You might have a slight issue with scrolling in a report on different mobile devices.

  • Combined Calendar — Select the Combined Calendar to view either the calendar month or list of events from all your classes and groups combined.

Parents that have several children using Edline will need to choose which student to view, or they can select View All Students to see all their children's events on one calendar.

  • Groups — Just like the list of classes, you can select from a list of groups where you are a member, including clubs, activities, and sports.

Parents that have several children using Edline will need to choose which student to view.

  • Activity Feed — Select the Activity Feed to view most recent information added to any of the pages where you are a member.

Parents that have several children using Edline will need to choose which student to view, or they can select View All Users to see all their children's new information. Anything added within the last 24-hours will be marked as new.

How to View the District's Website
