Community Engagement Solution

Engage parents who are on-the-go!

The Blackboard Community Engagement Solution is a suite of products that provides K-12 districts and schools with better interaction with parents or your community. It can include the following products.

Community Engagement Bundle Products
Edline Edline is the Blackboard website solution for schools and districts. Parents and community members can remain "in-the-know" with district, school, sport, and class activities.
Connect Connect is the Blackboard notification solution. Send multi-modal communications, including text, phone calls, and emails to your educational community.
Mobile Communication App Mobile Communication App provides mobile apps to keep parents up-to-date with access to student grades, attendance, cafeteria, and library accounts, as well as public information like news, events, and photos.
Social Media Manager Social Media Manager helps grow your social media presence, monitor activity across the district, and leverage social media as a tool for engaging parents and your community.

What if we use K-12 Central?

Already bundled with K-12 Central, Edline, and Connect 5? Don’t worry – nothing changes for you. You can remain on Blackboard Connect 5. You do not have to upgrade to Connect 5i, and K-12 Central will continue to be updated.

Edline + Connect + Mobile Community Manager + Social Media Manager

If your district or school has implemented the Community Engagement Solution with Edline, Connect, Mobile Community Manager, and Social Media Manager, you will have a fully operable website, an emergency notification system, and a full mobile app package.

Usability and Performance Updates

  • Account management. Using Mobile Community Manager, administrators can manage user accounts. To learn more, see Manage User Accounts.
  • Mass notifications. You can send notifications to parents using Connect 5i. If your district or school already had Edline and Connect 5 and upgraded to ParentLink for the mobile apps, you can continue to send mass notifications to parents using Connect 5.
  • Mobile support. Mobile Community Manager supports iOS7+ and Android 4.0+. The Mobile Community Manager app does not display messages or on-screen alerts sent through Connect 5i or Edline.
  • Possible administration changes. Administrators may have three management interfaces—Edline, Connect 5, and Mobile Community Manager—if they are not upgrading to Blackboard Connect 5i.​

Set Up Your System

Follow the standard procedures for setting up each product. Complete the setup in this order:

  1. Edline
  2. Connect 5i
  3. Link Connect 5i with Edline
  4. Mobile Community Manager
  5. Social Media Manager – if necessary
