Starting with Learn 9.1 April 2014, the release strategy is two releases per year. Functionality in many cases will be delivered as Building Blocks, which allows the same flexibility for management as with previous releases. Given interdependencies, some Building Blocks cannot be removed or disabled. These are displayed in the Building Block manager with limited management options reflecting system requirements.
The prior Learn release strategy was to release four service packs during the year noted by a service pack number such as SP 13 or SP 14.
- The even-numbered service packs are largely comprised of new features and enhancements.
- The odd-numbered service packs are primarily maintenance releases.
To learn more about each service pack's features, see the Release Notes for All 9.1 Releases.
Blackboard offers full support, including patches, for the current generally available release and two releases prior. To learn more about these guidelines, see the Client Support Services Guide (available in English only).
