About Service Pack 11
SP 11 is a maintenance service pack that includes minimal new features along with a number of fixes and improvements. The following features are new to SP 11 and do not appear in SP 10.
Changes to IMS Enterprise 1.1 Default Field Mapping for Courses
To maintain consistency with the IMS 1.1 specification, Blackboard now correctly maps the fields below in XML feed files to the following Blackboard locations:
<sourcedid>.
</sourcedid> - Course’s batch_uid (course_main.batch_uid)

.<short/>
- Course’s Course ID (course_main.course_id)

.<long/>
- Course’s Course Name (course_main.course_name)

.<full/>
- Course’s Course Description (course_main.course_desc)
Clients using the SIS Framework with either the “IMS Enterprise 1.1” or “IMS Enterprise 1.1 - Vista” integration types will need to make adjustments to any custom scripts or other Field Mapping changes for these integration types.
Safe HTML Filter for the Content Editor Building Block
Users can enter HTML in Blackboard Learn wherever the content editor appears, including blogs, journals, wikis and the discussion board. To make HTML entered by users safer, this building block shifts filtering from the previous "Global Safe HTML Filter" to the open-source security library from the Open Web Application Security Project's AntiSamy API. This new API ensures "user-supplied HTML/CSS is in compliance within an application's rules."
System Administrators can tailor the HTML tags and attributes allowed on their Blackboard Learn instance based on their organization's risk tolerance level. Blackboard will ship with a secure-default HTML policy file.
The privilege to control whether a user is restricted to Safe HTML policies is controlled by a privilege named "Add/Modify trusted content" or "Add/Edit trusted content with scripts" depending on which version of Learn you are on. Blackboard Learn ships by default granting the privilege to enter unrestricted HTML to Administrators, Course Builders, Graders, Instructors, and Teaching Assistants. Roles such as Students and Guests do not have the capability by default to enter trusted content and are thus restricted to Safe HTML. Customers should evaluate whether users need the privilege.
This security control is enabled by default.
File Attachments in Tests
Files that are attached to test questions must be uploaded using the content editor. This will store the files in Course Files.
Mobile Support for Mashups
Changes in how mashups are processed allow them to now play on mobile devices using a web browser. Media-rich learning can happen anywhere students can access Learn.
Record From Webcam (Video Everywhere)
Record From Webcam (Video Everywhere) is included as part of the update to SP 11.
