SP10 New Features

Original Launch Date: November 5, 2012

About Service Pack 10

We Never Stop Learning.  Nearly 600 students and over 600 educators at 640 schools taught us a thing or two and helped us redesign the Blackboard Learn platform to be simple, intuitive and focused on you.  How you learn. How you teach. How you grow as students, educators and institutions.

New Features & Updates

My Blackboard

A completely new, modern user experience in Blackboard Learn that consolidates critical information from all your Courses and Organizations as well as your learning network. The new tools in My Blackboard–Profile, Posts, Updates, My Grades, and People–were developed to meet the needs of today’s active learner, and educators benefit too.

To learn more, see My Blackboard.

New Global Navigation Menu

Always present in the top right corner, the new navigation menu is the entry point to My Blackboard and also provides one-click access to your Courses, Organizations, Settings, and Help.

Text and Text-to-Voice Course Notifications

Students and educators can now receive automated text or text-to-voice notifications for their courses, for example when there’s a new course announcement or an assignment is due or needs grading. Stay updated anytime, anywhere.

New Content Editor

The new Content Editor vastly improves the user experience for entering text, pasting content from Microsoft Word, and adding content to all areas of Blackboard Learn. Simply bring your course materials to life.

To learn more, see Using the Content Editor.

Item Analysis

Educators can now easily refine their assessments by evaluating the quality of each question and that question’s ability to discriminate between students who understand the material and those who do not.  Ineffective questions can be easily identified and then quickly corrected with the Automatic Regrade feature.

To learn more, see Running Item Analysis on a Test.

Enterprise Surveys & Course Evaluations

Institutions can now conduct surveys at the course, department, institution and general public levels.  You also have robust analysis tools and reports at your disposal, with the ability to track response rates, aggregate or disaggregate results, and even track results year over year.

To learn more, see Enterprise Surveys.

LTI 1.1 Support

With support for the LTI 1.1 standard, grades from third party tools will automatically post to the Blackboard Learn Grade Center, making it easier for educators to manage assignments.

To learn more, see Support for LTI Standards.
