Set Up Mobile Learn

How do I enable Blackboard Mobile Learn?

  1. Log in to Blackboard Learn as an administrator.
  2. Select the System Admin tab.
  3. In the Building Blocks section, click Building Blocks.
  4. Select Installed Tools.
  5. In the list of installed tools, navigate to Blackboard Mobile Web Services Building Block, and access its contextual menu.
  6. Select Settings.
  7. Select Server Registration Settings. Adjust administrator settings related to your building block and its communication with mobile devices, such as your Server URL and the type of authentication you use.

If the building block is not already installed, you will find it under Featured Building Blocks Available within the Software Updates module on the System Admin page.

How do I keep Mobile Learn up to date?

If you are running Learn Service Pack 8 or higher, you are automatically notified of new software updates. If you are on a Service Pack prior to SP8, you have to manually install the Mobile Web Services Building Block from Behind the Blackboard.

How to Update the Building Block

  1. Log in to Blackboard Learn as an administrator.
  2. Select the System Admin tab.
  3. In the Software Updates section, select Building Block Updates.
  4. Locate Blackboard Mobile Web Services Building Block and click its New Update Available link.
  5. Click Install.

All Building Block updates require Blackboard services to be restarted on all application servers.  To ensure a positive Mobile Learn experience for your students and faculty, we recommend you also keep your Learn Service Pack software up to date in addition to the Building Block. We recommend running Service Pack 8 and higher. There are many important bug fixes in version SP 8 and higher that greatly affect Learn and Mobile Learn.

How can students and faculty download the Mobile Learn app?

Please see the Quick Start instructions to get the app.
