Student Risk and Detail Reports

Blackboard Predict is delivered through Blackboard Learn, and is accessed through the individual courses you teach. The Student Risk Report shows an overview of how your students perform in the course. The Student Details page shows information on performance and grade projection for an individual student.

Both Student Risk Reports and Student Details display student risk. At most institutions, risk is calculated from the probability of students achieving a passing grade of C or higher in the course. Those that are at high risk have a low probability of earning a passing grade.

Student Risk Report

The Student Risk Report contains a summary of all student risk levels in your course, followed by lists of individual student risk levels. The student risk summary shows a chart of total students in your course, with the number of students who fall into each risk level.

Below the chart, students are sorted by high, medium, or low risk. You can reorder the student list by selecting the arrows next to either Student or Probability of Passing. Select a student profile to view the Student Details page.

Student Details

On the student details page, there are two tabs that show you student information: Performance and Student View.

For each graph in your activity and grade projection, you can perform the following actions:

  • View your grades in graph or list.
  • Zoom in or out to get a closer look.
  • Download the graph as an image or PDF file.

Performance

The Performance tab shows probability of the student getting a passing course grade, grade details of each assignment, and the student’s course activity. The course activity includes hours spent in course compared to the class average.

Student Performance: Probability of the student receiving a passing course grade. Probability is shown in weekly intervals. Select the colored circle for each week to view details.

Grades: Student’s grades for each assignment compared to the median grade of the class.

Activity: Amount of time a student spends in your course content within Learn. The activity details include how many active students are in your course, the average hours in the course, and the student’s hours in the course.

Student View

The Student View tab shows you what the student sees when they access My Activity and Grade Projection. The student view offers grade projection so they can see potential grades based on future performance. Similar to the Performance tab, activity is shown that compares student to class averages each week.

Grade Projection: Potential grades the student can achieve based on their current grades in the course. The grade projection details include potential grades if they get all maximum grades, maintain their current grades, or get all minimum grades.

Activity: Amount of time a student spends in your course content within Learn. The activity details include how many active students are in your course, the average hours in the course, and the student’s hours in the course.
